This piece is part of the Giuseppe Ripamonti collection by Calle Henzel, which explores the relationship between architectural composition and textile structure. Drawing from the language of modernist geometry, the series is built through layered forms, shifting grids, and intersecting planes that create compositions both precise and tactile.
Across the collection, geometric fragments are assembled into vertical structures that resemble architectural elevations, urban facades, or abstracted constructions. Blocks of pattern, tonal fields, and linear textures interact within carefully balanced compositions, creating a sense of rhythm and structural tension within the woven surface.
Rather than presenting geometry as rigid or purely graphic, Henzel allows the textile medium to soften and reinterpret these forms. Variations in texture, density, and tonal depth introduce subtle irregularities that temper the precision of the underlying compositions. The result is a dialogue between order and material presence, where graphic clarity and textile tactility coexist.
Several works within the series expand beyond conventional rug formats, developing elongated or irregular silhouettes that emphasize their vertical orientation. These forms introduce a sculptural dimension, allowing the pieces to function within interiors as spatial elements that engage directly with architecture.
Material nuance remains central throughout the collection. Contrasts between dense surfaces, softer tonal transitions, and layered patterns create depth that shifts depending on light and viewing distance. From afar the works read as clear geometric compositions; at closer range the woven textures and craftsmanship reveal a quieter complexity.
Through this balance of structure, rhythm, and material expression, the Giuseppe Ripamonti collection reflects Henzel’s ongoing interest in how architectural thinking can be translated into textile form — positioning the rug not only as a functional object, but as a composed element within the spatial language of an interior.
